Serie A Preview: AC Milan v. Lazio

Kickoff: 3:45 PM ET (USA)  /  20:45 CET (ITA)

League Position: Milan (6), Lazio (8)

Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Milan, Italy

Oh cautious optimism, why did I allow you to creep into my skull? Things are looking, well, pretty typical for Milan both on and off the field of play again these days. Our unbeaten run now decidedly at an end, a lame squad with a likely lame-duck manager welcomes Lazio, fresh off of their own humiliation, to the San Siro on Sunday. Read More

Serie A Preview: Sassuolo v. Milan

Date: Sunday, March 6, 2016

Kickoff: 9:00 AM ET (USA)  /  15:00 CET (ITA)

League Position: Milan (6), Sassuolo (7)

Mapei Stadium, Reggio Emilia, Italy

After the results went our way last round Milan now sit just one point back of Inter and the fifth position, and perhaps more surprisingly just 6 points back of third place. Now, I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself, but it’s nice to be this deep into the season and still have every match be of real, vital importance. Read More

Serie A Preview: AC Milan v. Atalanta

Date: Saturday, November 7, 2015

Kickoff: 2:45 PM ET (USA) / 20:45 CET (ITA)

League Position: Milan (6), Atalanta (8)

Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Milan, Italy

Three wins a row! Count them! A whole three! So maybe we haven’t been overly impressive, but we comfortably beat a solid Lazio side in Rome last time out, and any Rossoneri fans desperate for signs of a resurgence just might have found them. To keep the good times rolling this weekend and continue climbing the table Milan must get past an inconsistent but capable Atalanta side. Read More

Serie A Preview: Lazio v. AC Milan

Date: Sunday, November 1, 2015

Kickoff: 2:45 PM ET (USA) / 20:45 CET (ITA)

League Position: Milan (8), Lazio (6)

Stadio Olimpico, Rome, Italy

Two narrow victories in a row do not a resurgence make, but you gotta start somewhere. 7 points out of the last possible 9 helped the Rossoneri climb up the table a bit and a few unexpected players have stepped up. But with no disrespect to Sassuolo (who just defeated Juve) or Chievo, the hosts this Sunday represent a very different proposition. Read More

League Position: Milan (13), Sassuolo (5)

Well, we didn’t lose last round, but one point wasn’t enough to raise our league position. Hey, we’re still performing better than Juventus (in Italy) though! Read More

After a disappointing derby, another undefeated team visits the San Siro. Iachini’s Palermo have taken 7 points out of 9 and will relish the chance to stay near the top of the table. Milan limp into this match a bit although some have noted an improved performance despite the defeat to Inter. Read More

Kickoff: 2:45 PM ET (USA) / 20:45 CET (ITA)

League Position: Milan (7), Torino (14)

Stadio Olimpico, Torino, Italy

It’s going to be a long time before Milan turns the corner. We aren’t even approaching the corner. But after a string of decent results before (and one during) the winter break, it seemed like we Milanisti could at least see the corner. Then Sassuolo tied our shoelaces together (again) and we fell flat on our faces. Read More

Milan v Napoli Post-Match Comments

82% passing success. That is Milan’s completion for passes throughout this entire season. Why do I bring this up? To tell you that it’s X% better or worse than last year, to give a statistical imprint of what trend is emerging? Actually, just to illustrate how statistics should always take a backseat to common sense analysis. Kobe Bryant is putting up incredible scoring numbers and attempting massive numbers of shots while breaking scoring records. But anyone who watches him, still sees a top-10 all time player, but one hampered by injury still, who takes up too large a portion of his team’s available spending cash, and then complains that the rest of his team are scrubs. Looking at the stats doesn’t always help you understand the situation.

Serie A Preview: Genoa v. AC Milan

Date: Sunday, December 7, 2014

Kickoff: 9:00 AM ET (USA) / 15:00 CET (ITA)

League Position: Milan (6), Genoa (4)

Stadio Luigi Ferraris, Genoa, Italy

A chance to rejoin the top 5 waits for Milan as they visit Gian Piero Gasperini and his surprising Genoa side this Sunday. Off the heels of a much improved if not totally convincing win over Udinese, the Rossoneri will face a resurgent (don’t laugh too hard) Alessandro Matri and a team unbeaten in their previous 8 Serie A matches. Genoa are on a good run of form no doubt, but if Milan expect to beat Napoli and Roma in the coming rounds they’ll need to prove they can clip Il Grifone’s wings first. Read More
